What do we do?
Faribault Supporting Families offers volunteer-supported help for families facing barriers to basic needs in Faribault because of the impact of immigration actions in Minnesota.
Our work is grounded in collaboration and a deep respect for the lived experiences of families in our community. The group started in the spring of 2025 when community advocates sought volunteers to engage in service work, bolster support for neighborhood organizers, and relieve pressure on the staff in our local programs.
Direct Support for Families
Support includes food shelf proxy shopping (through CAC enrollment), rides to appointments, work, and services, and help with groceries, prescriptions, and other essential errands.
We also offer notary and forms support, language support, and a direct WhatsApp support line for families.
We strive to connect families to resources in the community, including supporting families with small, urgent needs through the FSF mutual aid fund and donations to the Community Action Center and other local non-profit organizations.
Support for Faribault Supporting Families
In addition, FSF organizes supply drives and supports fundraising for the FSF mutual aid fund.
How can I get started?
Email us at fsfmutualaid@gmail.com to ask about volunteering.
We are especially interested in volunteers who are available during the weekdays and/or who are bilingual in Spanish and English.
How do you screen volunteers?
All volunteers must have two references from people connected to the Faribault Supporting Families network or one of the local non-profit organizations we liaison with.
